Looking to Start a Reenacting group

My dad wants to start a reenacting group in Houston, Tx. We will be the 5th Texas Company C and galvanize to the 48th Pennsylvania Company I for our Northern impression. The uniforms will be listed. to join contact my dad at dkoch@cbi.com . the 5th Texas was in the Texas brigade and fought with John Bell Hood. We picked a Pennsylvania unit because our 5x great Grandfather was in that unit here is his picture.

Uniform guidelines for 5th Texas:




1. Any color confederate shell jacket in either jean cloth or wool (do not buy the same color everything)

2. Any confederate color trousers either jean cloth or wool (do not buy the same color everything)

3. Suspenders

4. Sutlers shirt one military issue and one plaid of your choice

5. Leather equipment cavalry cartridge box and any infantry cartridge box, cap pouch, belt,(all black) and CS belt buckle

6. 3-band Enfield rifle any year and some Springfields

7. Bayonet and frog

8. Slouch hat, Kepi, or Forage hat with insignia such as Texas star,

9. Haversack of your choice

10. Tin cup or mucket

11. Plate and silverware

12. Standard A-frame tent or pup-tent

13. Wool blanket of your choice

14. Canteen of your choice

15. Brogans we recommend Mercury Sutler brogans $75 best price

16. Optional: poncho, lantern, and haversack stuffers







Uniform for 48th Pennsylvania:

1. Navy blue sack coat

2. Sky blue pants

3. Canteen with sky blue wool cover

4. Cartridge box strap (black) with breast plate

5. Cartridge box with US box plate (black)

6. Springfield bayonet scabbard (bayonet can be Enfield)

7. Springfield rifle (optional to use Enfield just have Springfield bayonet scabbard)

8. Navy blue forage hat or kepi with victorinox cross and 48 and an I on it

9. US belt buckle

10. Optional: Knapsack with 48 painted on back
